Hudson Carter Shuldberg

Hudson Carter Shuldberg was welcomed into the world on Wednesday December 19, 2007 at 4:19 am. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19 1/4 inches long.

Mom was induced on Tuesday at 2pm so the labor was long, but only pushed for about 10 minutes before little Hudson was here. Everything went well, and Hudson is doing great. He is a wonderful baby, doesn't cry much and even when he does they are soft cries.

We are so happy he is finally here and feel so blessed that this beautiful little guy is all ours! We got home from the hospital on Friday, and have been trying to rest and adjust to life at home with a new baby. We are exhausted, but loving every minute of it.

We will do our best to keep everyone updated, but please bare with us as posting might be limited at this crazy time in our lives.

We love you all, and thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes for us. It is so good to know that we have great friends and family.

Here are a few pictures of Hudson.........We will try and post more later.
Enjoy!
Andy, Naomi and Hudson.

Don't Be Jealous

So I told my mom I would post a picture of my turkey this year. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I always brine the turkey the night before in a salt and sugar mixture which helps to make it really tender, and have a crispy skin. Of course I had to stuff it with my moms stuffing, and then add vegetables and seasonings in the pan for extra flavor. This picture was taken at the almost finished mark, so imagine this, but browned all the way when it was done.

Happy Thanksgiving

Drama In The Great State Of Texas

So I thought I would start posting some of the stuff from our trip to Texas. I am still going through all of the pictures of Matty and getting them ready to post. We had a nice trip, was glad to see my parents and Matty, but had a little bit of drama too.
The day we left I was not feeling very good, and had been sick all morning. I had been having abdominal cramping all day so I called the doctor just to be sure I was OK to fly. She said she thought I was fine, but that I sounded a little dehydrated so to drink lots. So I did, or so I thought I did.
Well we few in to Texas, where my parents and Matty met us at the Austin airport. I still was not feeling well, but was OK. Then I woke up Saturday morning with this terrible pain on my left side, I knew something was not right so I woke up everyone and had my Dad and Andy take me to the ER.
I got to the ER and after some tests they told me the same thing my doctor told me, that I was dehydrated so I was supposed to drink all this water they gave me before I was allowed to leave. Well I started drinking it, and I could not keep it down everything I drank came right back up, so they started and IV. So I got two bags of fluid and was sent home and told to come back if the pain in my side did not go away.
Well Sunday came, and I still did not feel 100% but my abdominal cramping was gone, just the pain in my left side was there, but I thought it would just go away.
Andy had to get back to work on Monday, so he headed back to Arizona with my brother's car (We are keeping it here for him until he gets back.) So on Sunday night my parents Matty, and his girlfriend Monica and I all went out to dinner. When I got home Sunday night, I was feeling worse again, but was not sure I should go in, so after a sleepless night, I finally went back to the ER on Monday. Another fun filled day that was! I got another IV from a lady who just couldn't figure it out so I got poked 4 times! I also got an ultrasound on my kidneys. Well after a bit they figured I either had a kidney infection or a kidney stone, so I got treated for both. I got some antibiotics, some pain killers, and to top off my stay in Texas I got a CATHETER! That was a first!
Anyhow, after about 6 hours they let me go with some medication to take. The OB there said the baby looked fine and not to be worried. So everything seems to be back to normal, and I feel good again, it was just a bummer that it had to happen when I really wanted to be able to spend as much time as possible with Matty and I was stuck in the hospital.
I was pretty swollen after everything from the IVs and my feet looked like tree trunks, so Matthew had a good time making fun of me and called me club foot the whole time. He also let me know that since he is a medic he can give IVs and why didn't I just ask him to give me one if I was dehydrated? Well Matty, maybe next time huh!
Well there is a bit of our excitement in Texas.......pictures and more to come later!

Just a Reminder

Hi everyone. I just wanted to post a quick reminder that we will be leaving for Texas this Friday, November 2nd to see Matthew off to Iraq. I know many of you expressed interest in sending something with me to give to him. We are taking off Friday evening so if you get it emailed to me before then, I can still get it to him. I would not suggest snail mail at this point since there is no guarantee it will get to me in time.

Thanks!

Just Plain Wrong!!!

So below you will see the temperature outside for TODAY!!!

95 degrees, are you serious?

IT IS BASICALLY NOVEMBER!!! This is wrong on so many levels!

It is the best time of year FALL, and it still feels like the middle of SUMMER, when will this end? Oh curse this boiling desert that we call Arizona! A Washington girl just can't take much of this! I need rain, and trees with leaves that change colors, and the Puget Sound....and now I am just making myself homesick.......

OK, I am done ranting.

Flowers That Taste Good Too!

So this past week was a particularly stressful week for me. I had a lot going on at the store with caterings, people calling in sick, dealing with different employee issues in addition to parenting classes, and Dr. appointments and other personal issues.......it was just busy, and I was exhausted and frustrated!

So, it was so nice to come home one day last week to find this edible "Flower" arrangement in the fridge from Andy! It was so pretty and the strawberries were covered in DARK CHOCOLATE! MMM.....so good! I just plopped my fat pregnant butt on the couch watched a TiVo'd episode of Oprah and ate my flowers! Great ending to a crazy day!

Thanks Andy, I love you!

Baby's Name

I have posted a poll on the blog to have everyone help up decide what to name the baby. We have quite a few names we like, some more than others, but we can't seem to come to a firm conclusion. So we thought it might be a good idea to get opinions from our friends and family.

Our names are not what we would consider to be common, and understand not everyone will be fans of them, but please pick the ones you like most. The middle name will most likely also be one of the names from the poll. Once we are set on a first name it will be easier for us to decide on a middle name.

Hopefully soon we will be able to make a firm decision.

Thanks for voting!

Pregnancy Weeks 20-29

So perhaps I have been slacking on this just a bit (Well for 9 weeks really) but I thought it was time for another pregnancy post.

So now that I am in my last trimester I am starting to get all the uncomfortable pregnancy side effects. For instance, my feet swell up like balloons at the end of the day. I have been told to drink lots and lots of water to help with the swelling, I do, and I still have Flinstone feet! I have now found out what heartburn and indigestion feel like (I have never experienced those before.) Also, this child, although I love him dearly is OBSESSED with my rib cage, and will not leave it alone. One morning about 2am I woke up with the WORST pain in my right side right by my rib cage. I had no idea what was going on and it was so uncomfortable I was nearly in tears thinking something was wrong and maybe we needed to go to the doctor. I got online real quick and looked in some of my books about rib pain, and found out that it is possible for the baby to lodge itself in there, and that there were certain exercises I could do to get him to move back down where he belongs. Anyway, after about 3 hours of walking around and doing these exercises I finally got the little critter to move. However, during the day he still seems to find his way over there, so I am thinking this will just be one of those things I have to deal with.

Also, this whole gaining weight thing sucks! I know you have to, but man you feel it. It's weird to feel so "Heavy" and to struggle to bend over and put on your socks! I will never take that small act of putting on socks for granted again!

However, overall I feel really good. I know so many people who have had terrible pregnancy's so I will not complain anymore, I have been very lucky.

He is moving all of the time now, and often times think that he is holding his own private aerobics session in my womb. Andy gets a kick out of watching my belly move and contort in all sorts of funny ways. Sometimes Andy will push on my belly and then he pushes or kicks back, we find that amusing anyway.

We are in the process of figuring out what we want to do with the baby's room, so over the next few weeks I should be able to post pictures of our progress.

This time is just going by so fast, I can't believe I am almost 30 weeks! Were in the homeward stretch now and are getting very excited yet nervous at the same time. I think we have both decided that this will not feel completely real until we see him, then I am sure that will be one of the most "Real" moments of our lives.

Until the time comes we are just keeping busy with the nursery and reading all sorts of book on all different kinds of topics hoping we will have a clue what to do with this child when he arrives!

Please Participate........

My brother Matthew, will be deploying to Iraq the 2nd week of November for 18 months. My family and I will be going down to Texas to see him the week before he leaves.

I was thinking it would be nice for him to have notes, letters, and pictures from friends, family, etc... to take with him when he leaves. Letters of encouragement, thanks, prayer, memories, just something for him to have from home, and to let him know how much we appreciate what he is doing and that he is loved and thought of.

We will be leaving for Texas on November 2nd, so I would like to have this "Book of Letters" put together before then.

Even if you do not know him, or even know him well please still feel free to send me something for him.

Please email these to me at naomi.shuldberg@yahoo.com

If you would like to send a hand written letter, please email me and I will give you my home address.

Thank you for taking the time to do this, I know he will appreciate it.

By Popular Demand I Give You........

The Belly Picture!

It sure is getting big, and boy am I feeling it! It is so weird to all of the sudden have this large "Appendage" to maneuver around. This picture is at 28 weeks, I cant believe I have 12 more to go, and that the belly will just keep getting bigger!

And yes, that is a crib you see in the background in my dining room. We haven't finished the baby room yet, so all the furniture is placed around the house where ever it will fit!

Last Pictures From Our Trip To Utah

While up in Utah for out baby BBQ, we went up to Park City to be with Andy's family. Every year for Labor Day, they all get condos in Park City so we went up and stayed with them for a night. We stayed in the condo with Andy's brother Jerry and his wife Aimee. Below are a few pix of three of their four kids, Coleman is missing, I believe he was swimming when we were having our photo shoot.

This Cutie is Noah (The youngest of the four)

This is their oldest son Canyon

And this is Easton

While in Park City we also went to go see the Olympic long jumpers. It was the female long jumping competition and they were from all over, the US and International. They are not the best shots in the world but you get the idea, and can see how far they jump. The girls were so young too, I think some of them were only 13 or 14!

Complete and Utter Boredom Leads To.........

A few weeks ago Andy was gone with some friends for the weekend in St. George. I have found that since being married we seem only hang out with each other, so since my "Other" was gone for the weekend I found myself looking for things to do around the house.
We had just bought our baby furniture a few weeks prior, and I was itching to put it together (About 5 months early I might add.) So the following pictures are what I put together all by myself! The crib was a little tricky, but it came together just fine. I would also like to add that the dresser was completely in pieces. You had to put together EVERYTHING! Even screw together all four sides of the drawers and all the drawer hardware. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, but watch out for me and my cordless drill!

The room colors are going to be a cream, sage green, and chocolate brown. The sheets which you can't really see in the picture have green and brown polka dots on them. I am not really loving the cream colored crib skirt, but it's hard to find anything in bold colors like brown for a baby's room, everything seems to be pastel. I am thinking I might need to have one made for me.

The Baby BBQ

For Labor weekend we headed up to Utah, it was a very short trip (Left Friday night came back Monday afternoon) but it was a fun trip! So on Friday it took us over 3 hours just to get out of Phoenix so we ended up staying the night in Page and making it to Utah on Saturday finally making it to our destination around 1ish. We quickly got ready for our Baby BBQ that was starting at 4pm.

When posting all of these pictures below, I realized that I didn't get pictures of everyone that came so that is a bummer, but thanks to all who came. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was so nice to see people we haven't seen in ages! And thanks to the BYU game that day, people kind of came and went all night which was great because it gave us more time to visit with people one on one. It was perfect the kids played together, the girls all chatted, and the guys got to watch the game!

This Cutie is Mia (Andy's best friend Kaleb's daughter.) I was trying to get some pictures of the other kids and kept telling them to say "Cheese" and she was beside me and kept saying "Cheese, Cheese!!" So I had to get a picture. If you can tell by the shape of her lips she is smiling pretty for the camera and saying "CHEESE!"

Here is Kaleb and Mia ready for Church on Sunday

Here is another great one of Mia. She had her hair in the cutest pig tails, then mom (Kat) took them out and this was the new hair style we had. She was trying to go for an edgier look ya know!

So after our BBQ on Saturday, we headed up to Kat and Kaleb's house and stayed the night there. On Sunday morning she was sitting on the couch playing with the book we had bought her saying "Cheese, Cheese, Cheese!" So I took another pix!

Mia has the best hair! Her dad had given her a bath and a mohawk!

This is my friend and old roommate Emily on the left, and my friend and other old roommate Kat on the right chattin it up

Here is Andy with his best friend Kaleb

Here is the Melchior Family: Shannon, Andy (or Milk as I like to call him) and their son Connor

Here is Emily with her son (who is the spitting image of his dad Sammy) Riven

And here we have Cassandra, who is an old friend from high school with her two kiddies Ava on the left and Eldon on the right.........Eldon is really in to having his picture taken if you can't tell, Ava isn't so sure about the whole thing. I'd like to add that Cass brought ton of great food to the BBQ, so thanks for that!

Well,I still have more pictures to post from our trip so from our time in Park City with Andy's family, so I will post those later this week.

Scenes From Our Trip To Utah

Andy and I headed up to Utah for Labor day weekend. I have quite a few pictures so I will put them in different posts this week. We went up there for our "Baby BBQ." We always complain that we never get to see all of our friends when we are in Utah because it is usually such a quick trip. So instead of doing a typical baby shower, we had a "Baby BBQ" where all of our friends, guys, gals, and children were invited. I am really glad we did it that way, we got to see a lot of friends, and many we haven't seen for a long time.

Anyhow, the pictures below are me once again trying to play photographer. Most of these are taken outside the car window as Andy was driving. They are mostly of southern Utah, and the Lake Powell area of Arizona as well.

This is Southern Utah right outside of Kanab

Another one just outside of Kanab

Here is one of the rare occasions where I was driving, couldn't resist the picture. Doesn't he look comfortable?

This is at sunrise in Page, Arizona

Crossing Lake Powell

Lake Powell area again

Sunrise over Lake Powell (Taken from the car I might add)

And a sunrise shot again

If you have never been to southern Utah, it is just really beautiful!

Right at this moment we are having a crazy thunderstorm and our power keeps going off and on. This is the third time I have gotten on to finish this post, so I think I will call it a night! I will post pictures of the BBQ later this week.

Lunar Eclipse

Andy and I are big nerds, so we set our alarm clocks a few weeks ago to get up at 2:30am to see the lunar eclipse we had recently. I had never seen one in person, so we were both pretty excited about it. I had my camera all ready to go, and was looking forward to getting some great shots! In Figrue A below you will see my first shot of the eclipse, which I think is pretty good for an amateur photographer. It took a lot of skill, and a steady hand to get this shot!

Figure A

Now in Figure B below, you will see my second shot of the eclipse which is not nearly as good as the first, I just can't figure out what happened! It's terrible compared to the first shot!
Figure B

Oh ya, I guess I should probably mention that the first shot is actually my dad's fine photography skill not mine. That might have something to do with the lesser quality of the picture in Figure B as that is the one that I took. Now I will mention that my dad does have a lens a mile long, so he has a bit of an advantage, however I still have a long way to go in the land of skilled photography. I might not have a good shot of the eclipse, but at least I have my memories!

Just For Fun

Just for laughs and giggles, I thought I would post this awesome pictuere of my brother Matthew, if for no other reason than I know he will hate it! I was just messing around and got some pretty good ones, but this one by far is my favorite! Love ya Matty!

Baby Shower

We took a trip to Washington last week for a few days and my mom and my mom's friend Ginger gave me a baby shower! It was so lovely at Ginger's house. She lives right on the water, and it was a beautiful day, so we had it ouside on her patio. Here are a few pictures from the occasion.

This one is a little hard to see, but this was the table of trouble makers, I won't call out any names, you know who you are!

Here is my one of my best friends Tara (Who's head is cut off) and her so cute daughter Lucy!

Here is another one of my best friends Heidi with Lucy! Aren't they cute!

Here is my mom on the left, with Julie and Janet

So this picture definitely needs an explanation.....So my Uncle Mark (AKA My MOTHER, she tried to pawn it off on my Uncle Mark, but we all know who the culprit is) decided to give a gag gift at the shower. I say gag gift because although it was very funny, I don't believe I will be allowing my child or husband to wear these in public anytime soon. What you are looking at is a pair of baby cowboy boots, along with two Davey Crockett hats, one for dad and baby! You can tell I am thrilled, and cannot wait to take a family picture with my two guys wearing their furry hats! Thanks for the laughs mom!

Anyhow, it was a lovely shower. Thanks to everyone who helped put it on, and to everyone who came, I had a great time!
